Durban Strawberries: Durban & Strawberries x 1987

Durban Strawberries

TYPE: Sativa
LINEAGE: Durban & Strawberries x 1987
BREEDER: Purple City Genetics
TASTES LIKE: Gassy, green apple, strawberry fields forever.
FEELS LIKE: A smooth ride on a magic carpet at dawn, just as the sun hits your face.

Some avoid sativas because of the jarring lift and disorienting crash you feel once the high fades away. This unique combination of pure sativa lineage from Africa, a stony Strawberries plant and a Super Silver Sour Diesel Haze bred in England makes for a totally different kind of sativa. Awake and uplifting, but especially smooth, easing you into a more energized state at a pleasant pace.

BACKSTORY
The Durban Poison parent plant comes from a friend of Auryn’s dad, who was an old-school pot smuggler himself. This frind—an eccentric German landscape designer who had spent time in South Africa in the early 1990s—brought back a bag seed one trip (those surprise seeds you find in the occasional eighth. Always keep them!). She grew it for herself for over a decade, pollinating it and picking the best seed each harvest. It’s likely that a neighbor plant cross-pollinated with it at some point—Auryn has a hunch it was Maui Dog, another classic, old-school strain—which mellowed out the zippiness. Combined with a juicy, happy Strawberries cross with an East Coast haze, this is a well-rounded sativa that complements mid-morning rhythms nicely.
